I'm playing the tutorial for shits and giggles and while I know it's really dumbed down for newbies, it seems a little too dumbed down. I got gifted a copy by an ex-coworker who knows how much I love Dwarf Fortress. Even if you only play on one device, it's always good to have that backup there.īoth Steam Deck and Desktop Linux were tested with Proton 7.0-4. There's no Cloud Save support yet though, which for a game as big as this feels like a huge oversight. Seems like you might get pretty good battery life out of it on Steam Deck too. The short guided tutorial is certainly a nice touch. To be honest with you, like a lot of people I was never able to get into it originally, it was a bit too retro for my tastes but this new more modern version definitely seems like something I can get into. I have no doubt it won't be long before someone makes a good one. It doesn't have controller support though, so on Steam Deck you'll need to mess about with Steam Input for a while to set it up how you want. The good news is that even though it doesn't have Native Linux support yet, it does work on Linux desktop and Steam Deck with Proton. Dwarf Fortress has now finally arrived on Steam, with all the shiny new bits including the new graphical tiles and audio included in Early Access. If your handgun has a lightened or modified trigger/action, you may need to use softer primers. primers (some say use mag primers some say not to). Some primers are softer (Federal), some are harder (CCI typically), and some fall inbetween (Winchester). At 24K lbs peak pressure a subsonic Blackout is 10K lbs less than a 9mm handgun round. The hardness of the primer refers to the amount of force required to ignite the primer. Pistol primers work in subsonic Blackout however the magnum rifle. In some cases, a primer can be formulated to work with both regular and magnum loads (See WLP below). Magnum loads require more activation energy since there is a lot more powder to burn. Non-magnum loads (such as 38 special) only require a small flame to properly ignite the powder charge. The quietest 9mm ammo is called subsonic and it stays at a velocity below 1,100 fps, which means the bullet moves slower than the speed of sound. That threshold is somewhere around 1,126 feet per second, so most modern rounds and loads break that barrier by default. Its designed to travel at speeds below that of sound, hence the name subsonic. General range rounds weigh 115 gr, while 9mm NATO is 124 gr, and some 9mm self-defense rounds are even heavier at 135 gr. Subsonic ammunition is ammunition specifically manufactured so the round doesnt break the sound barrier. The type of primer indicates the overall intensity of the primer flame. Most FMJ 9mm ammunition weighs between 115 and 147 gr. Primer type (Regular, Magnum, Multi-Purpose).Depending on what cartridge you are reloading, you need to buy the proper size primer for that application. Some cartridges require a large pistol primer (45acp, 44 special, 44 magnum, …) while others require a small pistol primer (9mm, 38 special, 357 magnum, …). A few parts seem to have gone missing so I'm waiting on them before I can really get started. There are a few basic parameters that you need to evaluate when buying primers: Atomic Ammunition 308 Win 175Gr Match Bthp 50Rd 10Bx/Cs A00428. $0.08~$0.12 each! I ask because I haven't reloaded in so long I just have no idea if this is an ongoing thing or more of a temporary one.īeyond that - holy crap primers have gotten expensive. because I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere!?!?!. Thankfully I have a few thousand small pistol primers on hand. I have a suppressor coming and it's considerably cheaper to reload my own subsonic 9mm rounds than it is to buy them - granted I will spend time and effort doing the reloading it's not so bad with the Dillon and honestly - I enjoy it. Nevertheless, there are a number of plausible and interesting conjectures that offer useful starting-points for investigating the functions of music.Ī promising approach to the question of music's origins focuses on how music is used-that is, it's various functions. Necessarily, hypotheses concerning the original functions of music will remain speculative. There is little physical evidence-like stone carvings or fossilized footprints-that might provide clues to music's past. The origin of music is shrouded in prehistory. Philosophers, psychologists, anthropologists, musicologists, and neuroscientists have proposed a number of theories concerning the origin and purpose of music and some have pursued scientific approaches to investigating them (e.g., Fitch, 2006 Peretz, 2006 Levitin, 2007 Schäfer and Sedlmeier, 2010). Throughout history, scholars of various stripes have pondered the nature of music. The ubiquity and antiquity of music has inspired considerable speculation regarding its origin and function. Recognizably musical activities appear to have been present in every known culture on earth, with ancient roots extending back 250,000 years or more (see Zatorre and Peretz, 2001). The enthusiasm for music is not a recent development. Music is a ubiquitous companion to people's everyday lives. Music listening is one of the most popular leisure activities. Moreover, in the array of seemingly odd behaviors, few behaviors match music for commandeering so much time, energy, and money. Most common behaviors have a recognizable utility that can be plausibly traced to the practical motives of survival and procreation. Music listening is one of the most enigmatic of human behaviors. The implications of these results are discussed in light of theories on the origin and the functionality of music listening and also for the application of musical stimuli in all areas of psychology and for research in music cognition. The first and second dimensions were judged to be much more important than the third-a result that contrasts with the idea that music has evolved primarily as a means for social cohesion and communication. Principal component analysis suggested three distinct underlying dimensions: People listen to music to regulate arousal and mood, to achieve self-awareness, and as an expression of social relatedness. These functions were distilled to 129 non-redundant functions that were then rated by 834 respondents. Part two of the paper presents an empirical investigation of hundreds of functions that could be extracted from the reviewed contributions. It is concluded that a comprehensive investigation addressing the basic dimensions underlying the plethora of functions of music listening is warranted. Part one of the paper reviews the research contributions that have explicitly referred to musical functions. Moreover, there remains no agreement about the underlying dimensions of these functions. However, different theoretical approaches, different methods, and different samples have left a heterogeneous picture regarding the number and nature of musical functions. Why do people listen to music? Over the past several decades, scholars have proposed numerous functions that listening to music might fulfill. If there are up to four kids playing, this can cause some congestion if they are having fun on the slide as well as the house. Your child will need to climb the exit slide to get into the bounce house. The one downside of this is that there is only one entrance, which is the exit slide. It holds your child’s shoes safely out of the way where nobody is going to trip over them. This bounce house also has a shoe bag that hangs outside of the bounce house. A carrying case, storage strap, and high-quality blower are also included. Some of the extras included with this are 8 stakes for the bounce house, 4 stakes for the blower, and a repair kit that has several patches. Even though the bounce house could be used indoors or outdoors, the noise from the blower makes it better as an outdoor product. Something to note is that the blower is very loud. It also comes with a long, heavy-duty cord to plug it in. The included blower blows up the slide and house in just minutes. It also keeps them inside the bouncing area while they’re having fun. The program boots with the natural Windows interface. The trend of native speeds continued throughout use of the application after testing. The installation process from this point onwards was as quick as any Windows installation. Proceeding with the installation, I was confronted with the usual interface I had found with Windows. To be honest, this isn’t a major problem anyway. After the first installation, any further software I attempted to install was carried off without a hitch. This was completely due to the fact that it was the first install I had carried out and therefore the system needed to install required fonts and such. The first stage of installation was fairly lengthy. For my initial tests of the software I decided to install Microsoft Office as I decided it would be a useful addition to my Mac as I haven’t developed a great taste for Open Office and haven’t yet bought a copy of iWork since recently purchasing an Apple Mac Mini. This includes anything from Microsoft Office to Call of Duty. The majority of regularly used programs will most likely be compatible with Crossover Mac. There is an almost endless list of software that is compatible with this software. However, when you enter any optical medium such as a CD or DVD containing installation files meant for Windows, the application springs into life and loads the files in an extremely similar manner to the auto-boot process on Windows. It pretty much stays out of your way, not even running until called upon. This is due to the discreet nature of the software. All that is immediately visible is the icon placed in the selected folder, or on the dock whilst open. So once your all set up and registered, you may wonder where the application has gone. I simply had to register on the CodeWeavers website and then register the software using the same details. Registering the software was a breeze too. As with the majority of OS X software, installation was simply a process of drag and drop into the applications folder. The first element of the program that needed testing, was naturally the installation and setup. During the testing of the program, I found all aspects of it to be pretty much flawless. To say that the software achieves this is an understatement to say the least. The software is designed to allow applications from other platforms, primarily Windows, to run seamlessly on Mac OS X without the need for emulators or dual booting the computer which requires a restart and wasted hard disk space. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of CodeWeavers’ flagship product ‘ Crossover Mac’ this week. |
